Final Product
Painted, finished, (Spray poly on dark areas, amber shellac on faux wood, satin clear coat on faux metal) and functional.
Not seen: head strap made with cotton webbing, foam padding also added.
Test and final demonstrations of lens mechanism. Thankfully, the lens assembly was driven by one very small motor, and I was able to re-solder the leads and repurpose it for this piece. LED inserts were panel lights purchased from McMasterCarr, center dial also purchased from McMaster. Motor control ended up being a little sub optimal- turning on and off the motor as you can see is extremely manual. Someday I’ll design something to sense the current the motor draws to stop it when it stalls.
